These past few weeks or so have been great for consumers. Why? Airlines aren’t charging an arm and a leg for airfare anymore – now you can find fares for as low as $39 one-way on some carriers (JetBlue). If you are sitting at home waiting for the fares to get lower, you might want to consider buying now. Southwest Airlines still has their deal, with flights starting at just $49. Virgin America is in the middle of their GO! Sale, and now might be a great time to look at flights to San Francisco if you live in the select cities that Virgin America serves. If you’re not sure it’s the lowest rate possible, don’t hesitate to check Kayak.
I recently took advantage of American Airline’s low fares and have yet another affordable trip planned. I found my fares on Kayak, and the average price per flight (excluding taxes) is just $40. Not bad. However keep in mind that the cheaper flights may mean longer connections, early morning / late evening flights, and more unnecessary stops. The nice thing is, for a small amount, passengers can easily pick up extra frequent flier miles; which may translate into more trips.
Tomorrow: Aviation-Buzz will see its first Saturday Connections Podcast / Webisode Episode, a new feature that re-caps the week’s aviation news, hosted by me.
