You read the title, and I know, I know. You are saying, but Andrew, you just had a rant at baggage handlers! I agree, I did, but still with how low airfare is now there is no excuse to fly overseas or to your favorite vacation spot. USA Today had an excellent article on air travel to Europe.
“Fares are reflecting the shift. According to Travelocity, international round-trip bookings for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend cost, on average, $610, down from $713 in 2008.”

I know security lines are long, baggage is a problem, and delays might possess a problem. Realistically though, check out the prices for airfare. Airlines are hurting, they want your business and they are cutting fares to prices that have never been seen before. Want to fly to Montana to see that cousin you have not seen in three years, or you and your family deserve that vacation to Florida to see Disney. Take it, the economy is down, the airlines are in pain, prices are low. Not only are you worth it, prices to travel are cheap. Treat yourself and help out the economy at the same time and take a trip.
This article is short and to the point. The deals out there are nice, and there is a lot of bad news surrounding the aviation industry. The facts are true though; aviation travel is not only cheap now, but is one of the safest ways to travel. Use a travel site, and get some nice deals to travel, hotel, and attractions. Still cannot find that cheap air travel I am talking about? Go to www.airfarewatchdog.com, there are plenty of fares you can find to match your need.

I couldn’t agree more. US airlines, but also other international premium airlines like Singapore Airlines, BA, Malaysia Airlines, Emirates, etc.. are slashing their fares. The most amazing deal from the past week has to be Malaysia Airlines LA or NY to Kuala Lumpur for $185 (one-way). Unbelievable! Another positive from the crisis (from a traveller’s perspective), hotels are slashing prices too. Also, fewer tourists (as a consequence of the crisis) means fewer crowds everywhere (like at major tourist attractions and national parks). Really, now IS the time to travel. By doing so, we would all be contributing to reviving the global economy (the multiplier effects in the tourism sector are huge!). I’ve written various articles on this subject on my blog. You’re most welcome to check them out.
Kind regards, Keith

Haha! Thanks. Keep up the good work too. Second time we’ve blogged on the same subject: first the A380, now cheap travel. Awesome! We’re definitely are on the same wavelength (opinions-wise too).

To Keith: Thanks for your comment. Andrew wrote this post, and I wrote the A380 one. I checked out your site – nice work! I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on it.
To Ray: Thanks! I like the color green too.
